Homeopathic professionals are using Gelsemium, Arsenicum, Nux Vomica and Eupatorium Perfoliatum to treat the symptoms of the H1N1 swine flu

Swine flu, since the winter of 2009, is considered by the World Health Organization a pandemic. Some medical experts say the threat is very serious and others say it is not. Some say it's just another seasonal flu. In any case, there are a number of homeopathic medicines that can treat the symptoms of the swine flu virus.

There is a Homeopathic Answer to Treat Your Own Immune System

While medical experts and scientists are deciding what the general public can do to boost their immune systems, here are few homeopathic remedies to have in your first aid kit in preparation for an outbreak of swine flu in your local community.

  • AGE is a combination remedy of arsenicum iodatum, gelsemium, and eupatorium perfoliatum, this remedy has historically been used as a prophylactic, although no trials have been carried out to date. It is used as soon as any symptoms develop or after contact with an infected person. Combination remedies like this one are particularly appropriate in case of seasonal flu as well as in the treatment of the H1N1 virus.
  • Gelsemium helps alleviate tiredness and weakness, and aches and pains which are felt especially in the muscles and limbs. Extreme lethargy makes this remedy appropriate for the treatment of the swine flu virus. Drowsiness, dullness, apathy, dizziness, and trembling are also prominent keynotes for using this remedy. The eyelids feel heavy and there is a bruising type of headache from the neck to head and forehead. Usually there is no thirst.
  • Eupatorium Perfoliatum is a remedy often used in the treatment of a seasonal flu. There is intense aching in back, limbs and especially the bones. People needing this remedy often describe their pains as if their bones are broken. The skin feels sore. Aching muscles often associated with the flu virus are a feature of this remedy, along with shivering and chills. There is a thirst for cold water, but food and drink may be vomited. Headaches with nausea are also present in a person who will respond to this remedy. The chest will be sore and a cough is present. However, the main indicator is painful, aching bones.
  • Nux Vomica is one of the main remedies for people who are extremely chilly in their illness, with shivering that is difficult to alleviate. The person cannot get warm despite applications of heat. A fever is likely to be present. Aching limbs, and gastric problems with nausea are also concomitant. A person needing nux vomica feels better from sleep, hot drinks, strong pressure, and prefers to be left alone.
  • Belladonna is the number one remedy for sudden fevers. The person is burning, red and hot. Eyes may be glassy and the pupils dilated. There is a strong desire for refreshing drinks. The throat will be sore and inflamed. Often a throbbing headache with a fever leads a person to choose this remedy. They generally feel better when lying down. Any movement makes them feel worse. They prefer not to be touched. The keynote for this remedy in treating fevers is a high and sudden onset.
  • Arsenicum is useful in the treatment of the seasonal flu when there is anxiety, exhaustion and restlessness with a nightly aggravation. There is also great exhaustion after the slightest exertion. Generally, a person needing this remedy in the treatment of the H1N1 virus feels very chilly. Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea can be present. People who will respond to this remedy are extremely anxious and fearful about their symptoms.

How to Take Homeopathic Medicine

In general, over the counter homeopathic remedies are best taken in the 30C potency. These are widely available at health food stores. Take one to two tablets several times a day, letting the medicine dissolve under the tongue. If after 36 hours there has been no improvement in symptoms, consider a different remedy, or contact a homeopathic physician or professional.

Boost Your Immune System with Vitamins in the Fight Against Seasonal Flu

In addition to considering homeopathic medicine to alleviate and speed recovery from the H1N1 swine flu virus, many health care experts advise taking daily doses of vitamin C and vitamin D3. Both vitamins have been shown to boost the immune system and contribute greatly to the body's natural defenses in handling the seasonal flu and viruses that are affecting the world population each year.

Keeping your Hands Clean and Germ Free can Beat the Symptoms of Swine Flu Too

Many studies in the past decade have shown that a simple routine of keeping your hands washed goes a long way in preventing the spread of the H1N1 virus. The best advice suggests washing your hands with warm, soapy water for the length of time it takes to sing "Happy Birthday." Drying hands fully with a clean towel is essential.

Treat the Symptoms of the H1N1 virus with a Homeopathic Remedy

To date, no homeopathic medicines have ever been recalled. There are no known side effects to using homeopathic remedies in the treatment of illness. Alternative and complementary medicine is a viable approach to enhancing your personal health care.
